TYRES/WHEELS UPGRADE
This variant of the Brio had 14-inch steel wheels with worn-out tires (175/65/R14), which is why the grip was also poor. I had a couple of choices for an upgrade:
- Fresh new aftermarket wheels.
- OEM+ upgrade.
I couldn't find any tasteful wheels in my city that fit my budget, and the ones I did see were either way too wide or had too much negative offset. I had to stretch the tyre size if I wanted to get them on the car. Honestly, I'm not a fan of that setup; it looks pretty cheap. Just to compare, Brio had 5J wide wheels, while the market was only offering wheels that started at 7J. I went with the OEM+ option.
I found a set of used Honda jazz alloy wheels( Enkei 5.5J ), which were in very bad condition. Found a guy to repaint them. Result was very good.
I went with Bridgestone Turanza 6i 195/55/R15 for the tyres. These tires are all about comfort, grip, low road noise, and solid braking. They might be pricey, but totally worth it. I checked out https://www.mycarhelpline.com to figure out the upgrade wheel/tyre size. People online say the size shouldn't be more than 2%, but it can go up to 3% in some situations. It messes with the ABS calibration, driving dynamics, and speedometer sensor. The upgrade was 2.22%, and since the Brio doesn't have any ABS system, I didn't run into any issues at all. It worked perfectly.
